Memorial Coliseum Concept Deadline Extended
Posted November 19, 2009
(Portland, Ore.) - The City of Portland and the Portland Development Commission (PDC) today announced an extension of the call for concepts for the renovation or adaptive reuse of the Memorial Coliseum. The concepts submission period opened on Monday, Nov. 2 and was originally slated to close Tuesday, Dec. 1. The deadline has been extended to Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2010.
"Our goal is to give the community ample time to respond with a broad range of innovative concepts," said Mayor Sam Adams. "We have heard from many citizens who have asked for an extension of the call for concepts deadline and we want to honor those requests,"
Any group or individual interested in submitting a concept can do so using the on-line application form available at: www.rosequarterdevelopment.org. After the Jan. 8 deadline, the 32-member Rose Quarter Stakeholder Advisory Committee (SAC), chaired by Mayor Adams, will analyze the concepts using established evaluation criteria.
Coliseum concepts must complement existing uses at the Rose Quarter as well as exemplify the future vision and urban design principles that have been developed for the area. All qualified concepts will be presented at the Tuesday, Jan. 26 SAC public meeting to be held at the Memorial Coliseum. Portland City Council will make a final decision on the future of the Coliseum in late spring 2010.
